We own a nice house in southern York County. Great school district, oversized lot, etc. This is an older house but "sized" closer to the newer construction houses which were being built up until last year. (5 bedrooms, large square footage, etc) We are pretty fortunate to not own one of these newer houses, since many seem to be underwater on the mortgages.
We have a possible relo opportunity, but it does not come with any home resale assistance. (and who would in this market?) The real estate agent we talked with suggested a listing price of $320K but said it could take about 6 months to sell. A much much smaller house on our street, listed at $230K 10 months ago, just went into foreclosure
I am wondering:
* does anyone actually buy houses in York Co in the Sept-December time frame?
* how many houses over $300K have actually sold this year?
* what is the "optimal" time to list the house, assuming we have flexibility over the relo dates.
* do people see the "higher end" homes market getting any better in the next year?
All opinions appreciated!
