An hour commuting total, I can understand that.

Spending 4-6 hours a day commuting is crazy.

Big difference.

I had a neighbor in the Lehigh Valley who commuted to NYC 5 days a week. He usually took a bus, but sometimes would drive to somewhere in NJ (Clinton?) and take a train from there. He left at 5:30-6:00am and usually didn't get home until 8:30-9:00pm. Sometimes if he had a big project he'd just sleep in his office overnight. He told me when he got home he'd say goodnight to his wife and kids and go straight to bed. Sure, the guy probably made good money, but commuting is expensive, and time is valuable.

Thanks everyone. Yeah I'm definetly not into driving the distance to Clinton, to get on a train/bus, that will take me to another bus to get on the subway. I was hoping there were bus stops in town that you can jump on and then not worry about anything until getting into NY. From Port Authority to Soho-Spring Street is a breeze. It's getting there that's the problem. And you're right, that time is so not worth it, I just didn't realize it was THAT bad.

Thanks everyone. I don't think this will be an option anymore. I definetly don't want to drive two hours one way (or be on a bus/train) to get to work and back. I'm looking into NY state now.

It takes me 36 minutes to go 16 miles in the city you want to move to so bad. That's nothing to brag about either.
