Default So Is South-Central PA In Riots Today?

Saw on the map the Ravens game is being aired over the Steelers game in SCPA today.

Is this a yearly thing were every couple of a games the fans go nuts?

I would think since SCPA is much closer to Bawlmer than PIT and since they are O's fans in baseball....they would NOT criss-cross and be Steelers fans.

I would think this would be Ravens country.

My questions

1) What is the split in SCPA in
-MLB/NFL/NHL/NBA

2) How far does Ravens and O's land go?
-Is the susequana and the Mts the divide...where to the east of the Susquhana it's Philly...west of the Mts PIT...in between Bal?

The Pennsylvania teams still reign, but people from Maryland have been moving across the border into Pennsylvania for cheaper housing.

The same is happening with people from NYC and NJ moving into Western PA. As a result, you're going to see more fans of other teams than previously.

It's not because Pennsyvlanian's love a Baltimore, New Jersey, or New York team. It's because people from the cities have invaded Pennsylvania for a lower cost of living.

If you find it impressive that fans for these other teams are in Pennsylvania, you should be impressed that Steelers have the most Steeler Sports Bars throughout the country than any other team.

There are Steeler fans everywhere---because they moved from Pittsburgh after the crash of the steel industry in the 70s and 80s.

So it's not a big deal that you are finding Raven's fans are living in Pennsylvania. That doesn't mean that Pennsylvanians are Raven's fans. It just means that they moved here.

Hope that helps you understand.

What you ask has been discussed in depth previously. Possibly it's in the sports section.

There are native Pennsylvanians who are Baltimore sports fans; most of them are from York County and to a lesser degree Lancaster and Adams Counties. That makes sense because many of those people can/could get Baltimore TV stations on cable or over-the-air TV.

Thanks Chip...remember me from the Phillies board?
I'll be back.

Is it safe to say most of SCPA is O's and Ravens country due to proximity to Baltimore?
Are the people there who root Bawlmer teams transplants or native PA's who ID more with Bawlmer since it is MUCH closer?

I would think anywhere from Chambersburg to Harrisburgh to Lancaster would be born and raised Bawlmer country since it is the closest city.
To me it would make no sense for York/Adams county to have much at all of a Steeler base since Bawlmer is so close.

Steelers fans aren't as combative or boisterous as many other fans, especially the Eagles. They're a pretty quiet easy going bunch and I'm not sure they even have any real rivalries with other teams. Lancaster is pretty much split between Eagles and Steelers, the Ravens a fairly distant third. Or actually fifth to Redskins and Giants fans( they moved in from NYC and NJ). Gettysburgh is probably 75% Steelers fan territory, with Eagles, Redskins, Ravens following.
The Ravens just don't seem to have too much of a following beyond the state line. TheRedskins seem to crowd them out.

Thruway is on a distinguished road
That is VERY odd because there are
1) Many Bawlmer transplants nearby
2) Bawlmer is the closest town
3) Bawlmer is a big football area
4) The O's are the most popular baseball team in SCPA

So why would Bawlmer NOT have a big following in SCPA for the NFL when Bawlmer is MUCH MORE a NFL than MLB area?

You mean to say people root for the O's and Steelers or Eagles?

You just don't see hardly any jerseys, caps or jackets for the Ravens. Eagles, Steelers, Phils, yes. Lots of NYC and NJ transplants wear their Mets and Yankees gear as well as the Giants. A few Redskins and always some Cowboys( when they have a decent season) fans wear their stuff. Bandwagoners have even helped The Patriots gain some convert fans.
I can't say why Baltimore doesn't have a bigger following in Pa, maybe some Baltimore transplants could weigh in on that.
I wonder if the far northern Pa residents go for Buffalo or the Giants. Anybody know?

I researched the topic and there are Ravens fans that have moved into the southern central Pa areas of York and Hanover. I was thinking more towards Lancaster where they haven't made much of a presence. Apparently Ravens fans are close to Eagles fans in numbers and fight for second place near the Md. border. But the Steelers seem to be dominant and their fan base rises quickly as you go west.

In Harrisburg it is a mix of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh fans, mostly. I honestly think they are about even in terms of fans. Throw in a handful of Ravens and Redskins fans as well.
