Places to eat around Johnstown?
I will be in Johnstown with family in the near future, and I'm probably going to be looking for some new places to eat. We've done Denny's, Ryans, Red Lobster, and Chilies in the past. Mostly around the Richland area. Also did the various fast food places like Pizza Hut, Subway, etc.
Does anyone have any other ideas for _good_ Johnstown specific restaurants or bakeries? Chinese, American, any genre. For example, any good sub shops beside the usual Quiznos or Subway? Any good Italian eateries (especially in Windber)? When I went to UPJ, I knew a person from Windber which had some deep rooted Italian background, so there must be some restaurants in Windber there somewhere... Microbrews with food?
Willing to travel a bit, but not as far as Altoona... Maybe down towards Somerset, I don't know yet.
Also, where can I buy good gobs ?
Thanks!

Murtha's airport: "Sassy’s Restaurant, located right inside the airport, is a long-time, local favorite. A warm meal, cold drink and friendly service await you . . . featuring delicious, reasonably-priced cuisine, including house specialties and other customer favorites."

Head east on Route 56 to Rizzo's in Windber, at Graham Avenue and 22nd Street. Yummy.

Good place to eat
I just mapquested it--go to Clymer and eat at Luigi's--38 miles away, 54 minutes.
Delicious--my mouth is still watering at the thought of it, and I haven't been there for 20 years. The same people still own/run it. Trust me.

there are actually alot of great places to eat in the area.....in windber we have the aforementioned rizzo's which is excellent(my brother is a chef there!) there is also mimo's and D'arc's which are traditional pizza places with sandwiches, pastas, stromboli's, etc.. D'arcs is definitely the better of the two. Another Italian restaurant is Patty's which is also quite good
The best bar in the area is also in windber, The Windber Hotel, it's got about 15 beers (mostly Micro's like dogfishhead, magic hat, bell's, etc...) on draft and about 70 in the cooler! Plus the food is not that bad either.
The Village Street Cafe in moxham is a great place to grab lunch, the have great wraps, panini's, and salads, plus amazing coffee that is both better and cheaper than starbucks, plus their food puts panera bread(where i work) to shame!!!
other restaurants to check out would be sechwan(sp??) for asian, rey azteca for mexican, nyko for japanese fusion, and the place that no one knows about is savannah's southern take out....best place to get ribs and fried chicken from here to at least north carolina
enjoy your stay in jtown, it's a great place if you want it to be!!!

I found a little hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Cambria called Our Sons' Restaurant that serves good Polish food. On Fridays, they have inexpensive fish specials with 3 sides and delicious homemade yeast rolls for under $7. They have things like pierogies and kluski. You can buy a dozen rolls to take home for about $3. Their homemade moonpies are a fun way to top off a meal. I suggest the pumpkin or peanut butter versions. This place is not fancy. It is a community corner restaurant. Seating is limited. It is a bustling little place and much better than a franchise eatery.
