Does anyone know anything about sunbury pa? (Reading, York: for sale, apartments)

It was reported yesterday down here that central Sunbury is installing surveillance cameras, like York and Lancaster have.

I moved here from Connecticut 4 years ago....I would consider another area other than Sunbury if you have children....The school system rated very poorly last year.

Come on people this town is beautiful , everytown has the same , maybe not a bad , it's everywhere ...

The fact remains that the school systems preformed way under PA standards and federal standards last year in Sunbury not to mention the increase crime ...If possible I would consider other areas with children.

There are some places to avoid renting. Look at the wards 1st ward is good as well as the hill section. Depending on what you are looking for apt vs house that again is another story. You may wish to look at the hill section for a half double.
If you are moving here looking for apts there are several areas that are A OK.
Market Street by the wall, the hill section and the outskirts of town.

By the way there are some great private schools Meadowview Christian Academy, Northumberland Christian, Sunbury Christian as well as St Monica's. So there are options. Please don't write off Sunbury. I have been here since 1993 and yes there have been changes but a town is what people make it and I have seen far worse.

Sunbury is not bad. I have a close friend who lives there and I have spent countless nights there. I have never personally experianced crime there, and I've taken solo walks in the middle of the nights and have felt perfectly safe. My friend has lived there three years and he hasn't ever felt unsafe there, and he used to walk to work in the city.

The main downside to Sunbury is a lack of job oppertunities, unless you are willing to drive an hour south to Harrisburg (don't drive an hour north to Williamsport, the job situation is just as bad there). However, Sunbury is very inexpensive, you could get an apartment easily for $300-$500, and most houses are in the $50,000-$100,000 range. If you wanted to try a tad more upscale area go across the river to Selinsgrove and the surrounding towns, but I'd personally go with Sunbury.
