Default Things to do in Berks County

Hey all,

I am a 4th year college student that is going to move to the Reading, pa area from upstate NY for the summer and fall for a co-op job position (paid internship). I am wondering what places are there to go and what things are there to do in the general Berks County area and the greater Reading area (except for the inner-city itself of course).

Any suggestions for outdoor activities, annual fairs, unique places to visit, hiking, rafting, museums, scenic areas, etc would be appreciated.
Any photos of places would be appreciated as well. Maybe a photo-tour of the county could be started
Thanks.

Anyone?

I will start posting some of my own photos/ideas once I move into the area next week, but just wanted some suggestions before I go exploring myself. Thanks...

You're missing the WW2 reenactment at the Mid Atlantic Air Museum right now, June 1st and 2nd, maybe 3rd. Largest of its kind in the nation. Also the oldest and highest rated miniature village/ train display is Roadside America, Shartlesville. Christmas time there's Koziar's Village light display, a Pa. top 10 attraction. Daniel Boone Homestead is worth seeing and they have colonial era reenactments from time to time. Inner City Reading has an outstanding historical society and museum in the Center Park District which is also a registered historic district and architecturally impressive. Then there's the Wyomissing Reading Public Museum, very much worth seeing. Pa. Dutch heritage center is north of Kutztown, and the Kempton and Blue Mountain rail roads. Just north in Pottsville Schuylkill County you can tour the Yuengling Brewery, oldest family owned brewery in the country. And if you like food, just west along route 23 in Lancaster County is the largest and finest smorgasboard/buffet in the state, probably the country, Shady Maple. Gring's Mill is well known for its walking trails along the river and has historic attractions nearby.
