Default Help...Possibly moving to PA

My husband is possibly getting transferred to New Jersey between December and April. We're currently in the UK. Having looked at the cost of houses etc in NJ we have recently begun considering the possibility of living in PA and him commuting to Basking Ridge. He'd only have to go into the office a max of three times a week. We would really appreciate any advice on how possible this would be and what the best areas are. We're thinking a max drive time of just over an hour (maybe an hour and a half depending on traffic conditions) as we both currently do that in the UK so are accustomed to the stresses that long commutes can bring. My husband was looking at the East Stroudsburg area today, and also Nazareth, to name a couple, but while googlemaps will give you a rough estimate of the length of time to get from a to b, there is no way for us to find out what the traffic is really like...

We would probably be looking to rent for at least the first year but as we have a 12 year old daughter and 6 month old son we would want to rent in the same area we plan to buy so as to not uproot my daughter from yet another school. The most important factors to us are good schools and a great place to raise family. We're not 100% sure what our budget is yet as details are still yet to be confirmed. I'm just trying to gather as much information as possible because if we're told we're moving in December that doesn't leave us much time to look into every possibility. Also, we have a dog and two cats - what are the chances of us finding a place to rent that would allow us to keep them?

Any information or advice would be sooooo greatly appreciated.
