Pennsylvania State Parks - Nockamixon - PA DCNR is one of my favorite places to camp without roughing it. It's in Bucks County, has a ton of great amenities. It's far enough away from the "city" but close enough that if you forget something, it's easy enough to go get it. It's furnished so you supply linens and that's about it. There's a kitchen, but also a firepit and bbq. We've gone the last few years and had 3 generations of campers really enjoying it.

Wherever you go in the PA park system, though, I think you'll have a great time.

I love French Creek, beautiful park. A word of caution; if you're camping in the summer, choose a park with less traffic. Look for under loved or out of the way parks or you'll find yourself in the midst of a tent city. I camped there in July two years ago and the place was packed, every site full. I like to camp to pretend that I'm in the wilderness. Lots of people and radios and crying kids just don't do it for me.

I'm camping this weekend as well. Little things like low temperatures keep many people away from the campgrounds. I'm tent camping in a tent only area, so it will be pretty quiet.

June and July is tough months to get reservations for a State Park.

There are times - such as the 4th of July where in places like Cook's Forest and Parkers Dam you cannot get a place to stay, even if you wanted to stay in a tent.

S.B. Elliot does not have a lake, and so not as many people want to stay there.

There are cabins for rent North of Brookville Pa along RT 36 - I believe that they cost about $30 a night. Or you could stay in a cabin at Clear Creek State Park.

There are some bed and breakfast style places inside of Clear Creek / Allegheny National Forrest.

It just all depends on what you are looking for.

There are all kinds of campgrounds around Jefferson and Clarion and Armstrong county, you just have to know what you wish to do.

They are looking for a balance, of something that's outdoors and with nature where they can feel like they are away from the big city but they also don't want to be totally caveman and primitive like (which I prefer but the majority decision is against me).

So I am looking for something that would be good for all us, where we can all enjoy. Doesn't matter where in the state.

Thanks
try the Cook Forest region of the Allegheny National Forest they have cabins for rent here is the site Camping in Cook Forest PA - Reservations, Rules, Maps and here is the main site Cook Forest Online - Info on Cook Forest State Park, Pennsylvania - Lodging, Activities, Business Directory
it is a very beautiful part of the Allegheny National Forest and you can either be very rustic or not so much rustic ,and there is hiking ,you can rent canoes or whatever you feel like doing ,check out the sites and see ,this a very popular area that is starting to get national attention ,and if you decide to go with a cabin make your reservations as soon as possible because they are usually rented out by the time the end of april comes around .
It is well worth the trip.

Hyner Run SP is at the bottom of the paved road to Hyner View, and has nice quiet campsites. If you and your friends want to participate in an event in that area, the Keystone Trails Association - Home has a weekend with numerous guided hikes to choose from in mid-July, with camping right next to a full kitchen with others doing the cooking. Registration details will probably pop up on the website in the spring.

Minister Creek on rt. 666 in the Allegheny National Forest... great hiking trails, creeks loaded with trout, vistas, giant bolders, lush woods, pretty rugged terrain, very remote feel, classic northern Appalachia... also somewhat close to Kinzua dam.
