Could anyone share what some of the most eastern towns with an amish community? We are looking to move to a more rural area (something small like a farmhouse with and acre or two) and would like to live near some amish due to their honesty and work ethic. The reason for the most eastern is because I work in Media and prefer as short a drive as possible.

Well you can forget Punxsutawney PA because the Amish is anything buy honest down my way. They will steal you blind if you let them.

Hard working is questionable also. I hired a crew to put a roof over my kitchen, a simple little job and 4 square of shingles. 10 guys showed up and 3 actually worked and the rest went for a ride in the truck and never came back until 2:30 when they quit. They didn't start until 10 AM that morning when the building materials showed up. There were 5 days early and wanted to get a good start on screwing me. The next day they showed up and did the second half of the work - most of it wrong and they charged me $2000 for 2 days work - 10 hours total for 3 people.

Thats got to be about $80 a hour, and the roof leaked and I ended up taking half of it down myself and doing it again.

Plus if you bring your city ways with you out into the country, it won't be long before the place you are moving into becomes just as bad as the place that you were trying to get away from.

I have seen it all. Dogs, Cats, kids with 4 wheelers and motorcycles. Harley Davidsons - roaring up and down the road 100 miles an hour all hours of the day and night. Stealing, dope, you name it.

Blue Ball, East East Township, Intercourse, Straudsberg, Parkesburg, Churchtown, Leola, some parts of New Holland.

I have found the Amish to be very honest, hard working and a pleasure to deal with. They may not be overly friendly towards you but don't take it personally. Good luck.
