Hanover has a high carroll county commute population, is growing, and has cheap (high 100 to mid 200 depending on location) housing. Heck... even some students from carroll county take the bus to Delone Catholic in Hanover area (actually in McSherrystown).

you will need to consider Adams county for lower taxes. The taxes in Pa are a bit different then Fl. We pay a school tax ..billed in July. This is your large tax and depends on the school district you live in. Also there are county and Maniacal tax. That is billed in Sept. York County is a bit higher for tax then Adams..
Hanover is a great place. i moved here 12 years ago and will never leave. Very close to shopping and restaurants. Good schools . Low crime. pretty!!!
Look at SchoolMatters - Home
for school information.
What part of Fl are you leaving? I lived in lake land Fl for almost two years long ago. i still have family there!!
Please let me answer your questions about the Hanover area. Any thing at all!!
House prices are falling quick here. So something under $ 300.00 is very easy to find. You may find that $225,000 to $250,000 is more in line.

Hi, my we live in Chambersburg and my husband commutes to Montgomery county, MD for work sometimes. He has to be at work by 7am at the latest, and he drives by himself. He swears that if you don't reach Frederick MD by 515 am, you are stuck in rush hour traffic. Hope it helps.

That is true. I live in Carroll Valley and commute to Sterling. I leave at 5 AM. It takes about 1.5 hours to get there at those times. If I leave at 7... 2 hours easy. Frankly, you can do the commute for about 5 years before going insane. My sanity is saved by the fact that I travel a lot. But if I don't get the job I am trying to get, I will have to move from here. There are no High tech jobs here. If I get a job that pays well within 30 miles, I will be lucky. South Central PA is beautiful... In the summer but with the commute and the winters... I have to leave.

John

York County has new big homes for decent prices and the quality of living is good. Also, the school systems are very good in my opinion. They have really sucsessful music programs (notably the West Shore School District).
