Exclamation Oxford Valley, PA Can We Afford It? Please Help!

My husband is in the military and just found out that he will be a recruiter in Oxford Valley, PA. From what I have been reading, it sounds really expensive to live there! The most we can afford on a home max is 250k. It's just my husband and I, and we would like to actually buy a house. Driving, he can only commute a max of 30 minutes. We were looking at buying a home in Elkton, MD and then found out that it would be too far to commute. We both hate the city, but want to be able to drive 15 min into one for shopping or entertainment. We are looking for a neighborhood that is safe and quiet. The home we were going to buy was in a new development area, we can't afford to be fixing up a place. We really need help on finding a nice area, but we have no idea where to look! Please help

I looked into Columbia and it's just too far for my husband to drive. It said that it was 1 hr and 54 min, lol. Any other ideas under an hour drive?

You could try parts of Falls Township, Fairless Hills, Yardley (condo only in that price range). Borough of Morrisville has some nice areas but taxes are very high there. A commute of only 30 minutes is kind of rare in this area. Usually folks move further out so they can afford more house. I've been commuting an hour and 20 minutes each way for the past 16 years.

Look for houses in the Fallsington/Falls area, there should be some around that price. Levittown used to be that cheap but lately I see homes there in the high 200's and probably still need work. Anything less would probably be in need of work.
You could get a condo for about that price in Yardley. Yardley Commons, an older development along the canal (but high enough up to not flood) has some very cute/nice condo's and patio homes in that price range and lower. In addition it's in a great location, as you can walk into the boro and would only be about 15 -20 minutes to the recruiting office, depending upon which part of Oxford Valley it is.
