Thank you! I saw Bucky about 8-yrs ago, when he appeared for a moment on one of the annual Boston comedy benefits Denis Leary holds for the Cam Neeley Foundation. Great, thanks for the info... now I have to move to OH!
As an aside, I first began watching baseball after seeing Pete Rose slide head first into 1st plate. I couldn't believe his enthusiasm. Sad what he's revealed recently about his betting, but nonetheless, I enjoy baseball today due to the Cincin. Reds!
Thank you. Play ball!... VV

The Reds are pretty mediocre so far this year, KittensPurr, so it's unlikely you'll see them on national TV, especially since you live in an AL market. Alas.
I have MLB Extra Innings so I can watch both my Ohio teams. But don't get me started on Pete Rose ... LOL ...

Isn't the entire history of the US about being "muts"? I mean come on. All Pennsylvanians have an ancestory of coming in from outside the state's current lines (yes even the tribal nations came from Asia).
The point is, there may be people moving into (and out of) Pennsylvania, but Pennsylvania will be home for a lot of 2nd generations of migrants and therefore PA will always have fans of PA teams. Michigan has Chicago and Indianapolis fanbase encroachment into southwest Michigan.... Green Bay Packer domination in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and etc... Yet I am not concerned overall. That is American life. Freedom of choice and freedom of where to live and most people who settle here will eventually cheer for Michigan teams or at least their children.

I have a 4 play subscription to a local University with 3 friends and last year we considered leaving at the intermission because the Eagles game was starting.
I think it would be easy to be a NY baseball fan and Philadelphia football fan because we just don't care who you like with baseball.

What I think would be most logical is this
-NYers are fanatics over all sports, especially baseball, hence why they are more visible in the state and in NEPA
-PHI are fanatics over football, then a far second is hockey, followed by baseball and then basketball BUT if either the Phillies or Sixers began to win there'd be a huge upsurge
-It isn't so much that NEPA has "cross overs" just that PHI fans are more visible in football but indifferent in baseball, which leads to them being overshawdowed by NY in baseball but in football it's much harder since PHI is much more visible.
It's that NOT criss crossers.
Is that more accurate?

Yes, however PA already is divided.
PHI and PIT share for time, and now you have BAL/DC carving in South C, NY in NEPA right near PHI, this shortening the "sphere" of inluence PHI has and I feel if it continues will lead to PHI being more overshadowed with NY stations, papers, and fans at home games.
All of America might be a mut but PA might be the greatest example if you have cores or pockets of PHI, PIT, NY, DC/BAL, CLE, and B'UF.
That's A LOT.

I really don't agree with that assessment. Phillies fans can be pretty strong in their fanaticism as well. Granted, the Eagles get much more statewide support, but baseball I definitely would not say that people are "indifferent" to the team in which they root for when it comes to baseball.

The Phillies have not helped themselves when it comes to expanding their fanbase. Comcast Sportsnet Philadelphia, whom they partner with to carry probably 95% of their games, is not available on satellite TV (keeping one stuck with expensive Comcast cable if they want to see Phillies, Flyers, and Sixers games). Plus, they pulled their AAA minor league affiliate out of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (which really helped grow the number of Phillies fans in SWB, which has always been a Yankee stronghold), in favor of moving their AAA affiliate to Allentown next year, which is only about 40 minutes away from Philly. A lot of Phillies fans in S/WB aren't too happy with the Phils after that move and many have started following other teams. They seem to be content with isolating their fanbase to greater Philadelphia and thats it. While other teams are constantly looking for ways to expand their fanbase, the Phillies shut them out.
Its no wonder the Phillies are the losingest franchise in the history of pro sports, and why they are an afterthought even in their own town. The fans start E-A-G-L-E-S chants at Phils games.
Lets go Mets!

By the way, mutt is spelled with two T's. I've got to say I haven't followed Phillies baseball since Mike Schmidt days and have probably gone to 3 games in the last ten years but have gone to twice as many Reading Phillies games. I'm looking forward to having the AAA team closer to us in Allentown. Good point about losing the fan base from the S/WB area but since there is not much excitement here either, maybe that will help.

I am a NY Yankee's fan, a Met's fan, a Jets fan and Giants fan, but I do like the Steelers because my daughter's boyfriend love's them. I can be flexible a bit, but I will always be loyal to my NY teams. No Phillies fan for me or Eagels for that matter! LOL

Yeah well I don't agree with you. Most people here ARE indifferent to baseball. I rarely see any Phillies fans. But I don't blame them since their team sucks so bad. And the few baseball fans I do see are crappy Yankee fans. Otherwise there is nobody here in PA that I can about baseball with.
