Is PA Becoming or Will Become A 'Mut' State
Whenever I thought of PA in the past, it was as a northern state, loyal to Philadelphia or Pittsburgh.
However I read on here about loads of people moving to NEPA and even the Leheigh Valley from NY, and to a lesser extent, people in York County, Adams County from BAL and even DC.
This has me wondering if PA is going to be going through, if it already isn't a major identity crisis statewide.
Is it a northern state, a mid state, or a weird state carved out with loyalities between at least four markets?
You would always id Mass as being with Bos, CT as being NY and BOS, NJ as being NY and PHI, and PA as being both PHI and PIT.
I'm wondering if soon PA is going to be seen as PHI, PIT, NY, and even BAL and if so, wouldn't life long PAers or those in the PHI, PIT areas get a little upset their state is starting to be heavily influenced culturally by out of state markets, if not having those markets extend into their territory?
I wonder if PHI is going to become like DC and BAL were there are going to be tons of NY fans, many more in years to come, due to NEPA and the Lehiegh Valley, if BAL will start to have a prescene in PHI and PIT, Western PA, and if this will lead to PHI and PIT suffering in terms of fan support.

Regarding sports
NY fans might decide to live in close proximity to Philadelphia but don't confuse Philadelphia with transient/passive DC . That won't fly down here. This is one of the most parochial places on earth. Even though 80% of the metro lives in the suburbs 99.9% of us are Philadlephia sports fans, tied at the hip.
Your points about PA being influenced by other states NY, Md etc. Thats probably inevitable.

NY is similar, a real sports town, my point was with all the NY people coming in wouldn't this dilute the % in favor of PHI teams and lead to more NY fans down there since more would be living there?

I don't know too many people that pay attention to baseball around here. I've been to more Reading Phillies games then Philadelphia Phillies games.
The Eagles though, they get under your skin. Once the New Yorkers see a real team like the Eagles, they won't be interested in the Giants or the Jets. Don't they both play in NJ? Btw,it's Lehigh County, not Leheigh.

Nyers relocating usually don't switch to root for other teams, and in particular, criss cross and root for a PHI rival club.
I think if the NEPA onslaught continues and moreso into Lehigh County they're going to be a lot more NY fans at Eagle and Flyer games simply due to more in the area.

There isn't much you can do about people from other regions, relocating and still being loyal fans of their hometown teams. If the transplantees stay around long enough and the kids get grounded in the new area they eventually will become Philadlephia fans. The Philadelphia area doesn't have that high of a turnover rate, historically this has not been a transient area. There are signs that people who are getting priced out of NY and DC markets want to stay relatively close to home and end up in the Philly region. But its a microscopic percentage to upset the Philadelphia area that already has 6 million home grown people loyal to Philadelphia teams.
The Phillies and Yankees just made big news with their rearranging of AAA clubs. The Phillies moved their AAA team to Allentown from Scranton. The Yankees swooped in and immediately picked up Scranton. I can see a greater bond between the Phillies and the Lehigh Valley(Allentown) now and I can also see Scranton becoming more of NY sattlelite, moreso than it already is.

You're right about that. I live in Scranton, so I'm equal distance from NYC and Philly, and I happen to be a Mets fan and an Eagles fan.
The way I see it, Philly is a lousy baseball town and a good football town. NY is a great baseball town and a lousy football town.

There's too many damn Yankee fans here in PA and I hate Yankee fans. They are obnoxious punks who think a bunch of overpaid steroid abusers make a good team. Meanwhile they have cleaned up on steroid use since the 90's and guess what, no World Series Titles since 2000. Coincidence? I think not?
Anyway, back to the topic. Every place is a mutt state. America is a mutt country. So it would be safe to say that each state has it's own fair share of outsiders. So don't go ahead and generalize that PA is the only state with diversity, because you're wrong and ignorant
Oh yeah, and the Eagles suck too

Dude that's both weird and patheic.
NY is a great all around sports town.
They haven't had a blackout since the 60s, they have one of the oldest, most traditional fanbases and knowledgeable with diehard fans.
It's every bit as good as any just we care about ALL our teams not just 1 or 2.
That statement is wrong.
Further I do not get how you can criss cross between PHI and NY as any true NY fans would despise PHI and never want to aside with that town.
