hi everyone
i am looking for a town close to the NJ border that has not been ruined by gangs, with a good school system, with a home we can afford...
looking to get closer to family, may need to commute into NJ for work.
3 bedrooms for under $175k and taxes under $3k?

Not sure what you can get for that money, but you may want to look at Yardley or Morrisville.

NJ borders PA for quite a distance. Where do you need to commute to?

i have researched the stroudsburgs over and over for the past 5-6 YEARS and i keep hitting the same info. people commuting to NYC or NJ for work and their kids are basically alone in another state, drug trafficking and gang problems especially in certain developements....and i have read the same things from different media.
so i am just worried about making a mistake

every place has gangs...bottom line
south stroudsburg is nice, do not move to pocono country place
cherry valley area is nice, so is saylorsburg, brodheadsville and effort but they are probabl to west for you
east stroudsburg is ok but not in any of the developments, talk with your realtor
i teach in east stroudsburg and i like the mix of kids i have in class

I am not trying to be unhelpful, but when we were looking for a new home, we got out a map, figured out how far my husband was willing to commute and then looked at the schools districts within that distance. I for one, have just a little idea of where the Hudson Valley area of NY is so wouldn't know where an hour and a half would end up in PA. I think it would help us mkburke if you asked about specific towns on our side of the line that would be within your distance.
