Question Where in PA Are You Moving To?

I did a poll a couple of months ago asking y'all where you were moving from, but I never did one asking where you were moving to! Here's your chance to give a shout-out to the place you're hoping will become your future dream home! As always, welcome to our beautiful commonwealth!

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre leads the poll with five prospective new residents? This bodes quite well for our area, which has been shedding population at the third-fastest rate in the nation for a number of decades. The last census estimates show that Scranton/Wilkes-Barre grew in both 2005 and 2006, and this poll indicates that this trend might be continuing as well. Awesome! I'm guessing it's a blend of both our increasing Hispanic population and from NY/NJ transplants who are considering the area as an alternative to Monroe County. Welcome to the region!

Hopefully by the end of 2008 my husband and I will be living in or around the Dallas, Harveys Lake, or Shavertown area. I am from Queens, NY, Middle Village actually. My husband's cousin is a ret NYC cop and he loves the area he lives in which is Dallas. I did all the research about this area and this is where I want my future baby to grow up in. His cousin just had a baby. We fit the demographics of the area and I think we will be there for the rest of our lives, God willing. One question I do have. I am a legal secretary with 21 years experience. I started working at age 19. What is the current salary range for my experience? I understand Wilkes-Barre and Scranton are the nearby areas to work in. If any of you can give me any information on salaries or job leads it would be great and I will remember you and when we move there, I will be sure to thank you in person. Have a great day!

Welcome in advance to the area! I'm personally not a huge fan of the Back Mountain area (as Dallas/Harvey's Lake is called), but that's just because I'm more of a "city guy." I snapped two photo tours of the areas near Dallas in the Back Mountain if you'd like to see them:

Sutton Road Area: http://www.city-data.com/forum/penns...part-four.html

Demunds Road Area: http://www.city-data.com/forum/penns...part-five.html

The Dallas School District is ranked quite highly around here, and it's certainly not a bad place to call home. I'll do some research into the salary situation for you if I can.

You should have no problem finding a job as a legal secretary. There are more lawyers in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre than there are trees.
