another cali to pa question
hello, I thought I would ask a question on here reguarding moving to central or eastern PA...
First off Im currently in southern CA and really tired of the race race here, you pretty much live to work. Yes, nice weather and nice scenery, but you dont get to enjoy because your just trying to exsist. OK, now I know the grass may not be greener on the other side as CA may have more jobs and opertunities but...
A bit on me I lived in central PA until about 1982 because my dad was involved in Sprint car racing. We had 3 acres of land, shop in the back, it was great. I absolutley loved the racing (3 times a week!!!). I drive sprint cars but cant afford it time or money wise out here. For work I am a CNC programmer and while there are quite a few jobs out here they dont pay what they used to.
What I would like to know is how is the job situation in central-east PA for machinist like me and how is the sprint car racing doing these days? I wonder if I should just stick it out here, but my family and I are really just existing. We would like some land, some peace, and I would like to do some racing later. Possible these days???
thanks in advance!

A friend of mine owns a machine shop and just laid a couple guys off, real slow for him. He told me that he's not the only shop that's slow in the area. As far as sprint cars go, still going strong!

thanks for the reply, Im glad sprints are strong! Man, I really miss the racing. As far as work goes, I figure I may have to look at being close to north Phili. I have seen a few openings there.
