Look at eHealthInsurance.com. Plug in different zip codes for where you are thinking of living - you will get realtime quotes without having to be hassled by salespeople or provide information other than DOB, if you smoke, and if you're in college (likewise for your family).

I run a small business and so have to purchase my own insurance. Most places in PA are about half of what I pay here in NYC (leaving soon, most likely for the Bethlehem area).

Also check out Health Insurance Plans from Assurant Health. I've used them three times for short term insurance, twice for myself, once for my family. They also offer regular coverage, and you can punch in your numbers online to see what your premium would be.

If you are self-employed, call the chamber of commerce. If you are a member, you can get their group coverage which is usually a good bargain. Plus, you won't get turned down for pre-existing conditions.

I second eHealthInsurance.com. They are great.

Health insurance in PA is fairly affordable compared to most states. Obviously the cost depends on many factors such as the type of coverage and the health of you and your family members.
