Question Montgomery County??

Can someone kindly direct me where in Montgomery County within Septa transportation I can reside where it's safe, has some sought of downtown/main street and has reasonable apartment rent prices? I'm single and have no dependants to worry about and earn in the low$30k/year range.

Thank You

Well, in the low 30k per year range, I'd avoid Montgomery County all together, I think. If you are working in Philly, I'd recommend Delaware County. It's the same distance but it'll be much cheaper. You'll have the same access to SEPTA, same (if slightly more blue collar) safe suburban neighborhoods, but for less money.

qaz,
Check out this link. It is a map of the Septa trains system and that should help you pick an area with public transportation.

Montco is expensive. Most apartments now run about $1000. However, if you look in the Lansdale/North Wales area you may find some private apartments a little cheaper. Many people will not advertise apartments in the main Phila. newspaper so check out the local newspapers, i.e., The Reporter of Lansdale, etc..
Good luck,
Don

qaz,
Check out Doylestown. It is a long commute to Phila, but I think it may have what you are looking for. I would avoid Norristown due to the high crime stats.

Montgomery county is quite large, but I'd suggest Pottstown. It's a reasonably quite little town, and the Hill School for boys is long standing establishment. I'm pretty sure Septa serves that area, and the train still runs through Pottstown also.
