Kutztown?
My husband and I are moving to Kutztown to work at the university. After looking at commutes and places closer to Philly combined with the slow down in the real estate market, we have decided to rent for a year near the university. Any suggestions for finding a rental out there?

Well, Kutztown is like an hour and forty-five minutes from Philadelphia, so the question might be better asked in the main PA forum.

kutztown
My son attends Kutztown. It's midway between the large cities of Reading and Allentown. Personally I would live in Kutztown, a nice small town; rush hour traffic is a pain going either way on RT 222. The Reading Eagle Classifieds cover Kutztown:

Be sure to lookup Michael Regensberger the Program Director of KUR when you are situated on campus.

Karla, I think you are gong to want a car.... Kutztown itself may be doable without a car but I would venture to say that all adults with the exception of maybe 50% of the students have cars. It's a small town, not a city and any public transporation is going to be minimal.
I don't think you will have a problems with prejudice but you will find a real lack of diversity. Just like all PA state colleges, about 90% of the students are Pennsylvania residents and since most of the ones at Kutztown come from within a two hour radius, 80% of them are white.

Toobusy's post is absolutely right. I just wanted to add that the Mennonites in the area navigate quite well with their bicycles - that is another option for you if a car isn't affordable right away. The grocery store and farmer's market is definitely within bicycling distance, and many other things are right in town such as dollar store, bank, drug store, convenience mart, etc.
