Please help! My son is getting married next May (2011) and his fiance has asked me to help them with wedding/reception venue ideas. They want a facility that has an outdoor option for the ceremony, with an indoor "plan B." They would like trees, hills, and water in some form. The reception facility could also be close by, if it is not part of the wedding venue. Maximum 100 people. They do not want a hotel reception, but a reception hall is OK. It should be in middle/western PA. Can you suggest some venues?

May not be west enough, but maybe Lauxmont Farms in York?

Have you checked out TheKnot? They have a large venue database by location.

Phipps Conservatory in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh can be booked for outdoor weddings. It's at the entrance to a large park with a small lake. Plan B is pretty nice too.

Check out PAweddings.com and Pittsburgh Weddings. These should help you with venues, florists, caterers, and all other aspects of wedding planning. I've photographed weddings for the past 6 years. One thing I've learned is to take your planned budget and double it. Good luck!

The Parador Inn in Pittsburgh. Check it out at Pittsburgh Bed and Breakfast | Pittsburgh Hotel. Your first thought might be "how can the city fit my requirements", but it is an oasis off the street, with an indoor/outdoor option. The interior accomodations are grand, the owner is a very competent and considerate host, and the setting is intimate. I have stayed as a guest in Dec and we had a mini-family reunion one weekend in Aug. Can't say enough about this gem.

check out Lingrow Farms. It has a beautiful restored horse barn for the ceremony/reception and nice grounds with a gazebo and pond. It is in Leechburg, PA, about 45 minutes ne of Pittsburgh.
