I recently received a job offer in South Western PA. The job requires me to move to either Washington, Fayette or Greened County. Can you advise me of a good town, close to major highways and good schools in either of those three counties?

Peters Township in Washington County is the best match. It's convenient to Route 79 and has an EXCELLENT school district.

It's a suburb of Pittsburgh that's just outside the border of Pittsburgh's county.

Post in the Pittsburgh forum for SW PA since Pittsburgh is right smack in the middle of it.

Default Southwestern PA.

Thank you for your response. Isn't Peter's Twp., somewhat expensive real estate? Also, are there good places to rent?

Peters Twp is an extremely expensive area...full of new money and huge homes. If you're looking for a cheaper area, try Canonsburg. Canon-MacMillan is a decent school district. Uniontown in Fayette county is hit or miss. There are some rough areas, but also some nicer areas. Laurel Highlands isn't too bad of a school district and renting a house would be cheap compared to other areas. Just make sure you are in a decent area. If you're renting, you might want to try Allegheny County also. South Park and Jefferson Hills are very close to Rt. 43 and have good schools. That wouldn't be a bad commute to Fayette county. Also, try Bridgeville. The schools there are mediocre, but not terrible and it's right on 79, so it would be very easy to get into Washington County, then take 70 East to Fayette. Greene County is also along 79. You have a fair amount of options, but don't let distance deter you. 43 and 79 are very easy commutes south, since most of the traffic would be flowing north into pittsburgh during rush hour. Also, if you ask this question again in the pittsburgh forum you'd get some more suggestions i'm sure. A lot of people there will probably say this school or that school is bad, but most of them are comparing them to Mt. Lebanon or Upper St. Clair. Schools in Washington county and a few in Fayette, like Frazier and Laurel Highlands, aren't bad. This isn't the inner city you're moving to. There won't be knife fights or kids selling crack during lunch. At best, more rednecks than anything. good luck.
