I'll take rural PA over most of the rest of the country, if not all.

It's the part of PA where camouflage clothing and beards are a requirement 365 days a year, though typically they grow beards towards the late fall/winter months for huntin season to keep their faces warm then shave it off for a summer playing in the church softball league. Toss in some NASCAR and Dirt Tracking and a little Old Country Buffet and you got the trifecta.

I've always thought of central PA as the bowels of PA, home of Appalachian wall-like ridges, the sweetest hills anywhere (in the north), the wildest wildlife, and, like most rural folks, people that break from the racistists and treat the prez like a man (able to be criticized), not like a handicap or tool.

Oh many of the people I encounter there are just outright racists. Not all of the people for sure. But in much of my experience, it can't be confused with constructive criticism of the president. I spent 25 years living there and I've seen/heard enough to say that many of the people there will blatantly use the N word without batting an eye. Have you seen the youtube video of the guy at the Palin rally at the War Memorial in Johnstown parading around with a monkey puppet that says "Obama" on it? Proof positive.

I have lived in rural PA, rural California, rural Alaska, rural British Columbia, rural Nove Scotia, rural Maine, and rural Colorado. My favorite by a very w-i-d-e margin was rural British Columbia. PA would be near the end of the list for me.

I could definitely handle living in a few of those places. The Moose hunting would be good.

I call it Pennsyltucky also, alhtough I wouldn't include the metro harrisburg area in that, as it's becoming quite large as people from Phily and DC begin to move up to save money. IT is still stifilingly conservative, though.
