if your still looking check out north west pa, Weedville, Saint Marys, or Dubois. we live in Weedville, its a very quiet town and very small. there is no crime. Dubois is about 20 miles with shopping and a mall and saint Marys is about 12 miles with shopping. if your looking for a quiet area this is great with towns in a decent distance. sadly we have to relocate to Lewistown due to my husbands job which i'm a little scared moving their because its a bigger city then were used to. anyways just a suggestion. good luck to you on finding that perfect place.

Can't say how prospect for CPA is, probably depends on what you do; real estate is BOOMING. 3-4 times a week I'll go on a 1 hr (or more!) hike before I pick up my young children....and only 10 minutes from work. It's awesome!!!

Yes, State College would work for you. It has a very country feel, yet you are always close to the conviences of the town! The crime is low, and the public schools are award winning. Vetegnc pretty much covered it all. Although, here is a link to a real esate website to look at some houses. There are many real estate companies in State College, so finding a job would be easy. Finding a house on a 0.5 acre lot or more sholud be easy.

i would look into the St.MArys area. It has good schools, and you said you really wanted outdoors which St.Marys has a lot of. It is a good city right in the middle of the forrest. It has tons to do outside and it doesnt get really that hot. it snows pretty decent in the winter, not to bad. real estate is ok in St.Marys and the suronding areas. Alot of stuff goes on in St.Marys like the elk expo i'm sure you would like that, and elk themselves, Hometown festival, national night out, and other cool stuff, there are 2 schools a catholic private and a public both very good. It is a very safe city and has a lot of family activity in it, there are a lot of parks and its just very nice. the shooping is good in St.Marys you know the usual walmart, grocery, and clothes. but for all the bigger stores you can go to Dubois(45 min) Altoona(2 hour) or state college(1) or even Pittsburgh or Erie(both 3 hours).

You should not be afraid of Lewistown we moved here in 2003 and love the area. The total population of the area we moved from that includes the entire Township and the nearest boro combined was only in the neighborhood of 5000.

Check out Treasure Lake, Treasure Lake Property Owners Association.
It has 3 lakes (Treasure, Bimini, and Little Flippper), 3 beaches, biking trails, cross country skiing, 2 PGA rated golf courses, a ski lodge, a sledding hill, a marina, an indoor pool, 3 outdoor pools & a kiddie pool, a big campground, its own church (that's expanding in the spring), security, and probably other things I'm forgetting. If you would like to talk to a realtor in the area, I could hook you up with a real good one. You can get a real nice house (3-4 bedrooms, 2000-3000 sq ft for less than $200,000 easy) in here. It's a good market.
It's located right off Interstate 80 in DuBois, PA. It's one hour west of State College and an hour and a half from the Ohio border. You can be to Pittsburgh in two hours to catch all the games.
There is a lot to see and do around here if you're an outdoorsy person. Pennsylvania's ELK herd is about a half hour away (to the NE). There's a lot of state parks and trails.
The schools around here (DuBois school district, DuBois Central Catholic, DuBois Christian) are good. There is also a branch of Penn State here, Penn State DuBois and DuBois Business College.
