Default WWII Benjamin S Hynoski

Dear all,

This might seem a strange post but I am Thijs Hodiamont from the Netherlands. In the early 50's my grandmother adopted a grave on the Netherlands American Cemetery at Margraten of a WW2 liberator who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. I recently took over the adoption since she passed away and i was looking for some more information about the man behind the gravestone.

A picture of the grave made on memorial day 2007,

What i retrieved from public sources and his Individual Deceased Personnel File is that he was born in 1913, from Shamokin, PA and was married to Bertha Hynoski. He was a squad leader in 3rd Squad, 2nd Platoon, E Company, 331st Infantry Regiment, 83rd Infantry Division and was killed in action at the 2nd of March 1945 in the vicinity of the Erft Canal near Neuss in Germany.

Interestingly i found a honouring of a cousin of Benjamin Hynoski on wwiimemorial.com, see World War II Honoree

Does anyone know if he had descendants, or does anyone know Mr. John A. Gregorowicz from Shamokin, PA and might be willing to contact me with some more information regarding S/Sgt Benjamin Hynoski?

Regards and thanks in advance,

Thijs Hodiamont

I just wanted to commend you on what you are doing. My father fought in WWII and was lucky to come home but to know that what they did is still appreciated is such as wonderful thing! I don't know this man's family but please know that we all appreciate your kindness and THANK YOU!
