Communities in Adams or York Co.? (Lancaster, Harrisburg: foreclosure, squatters, new house)

I have family out in Lake Heritage in Gettysburg, but was wondering if there are any other gated communities with a pool in either of these counties. I've seen some new construction, but no word about any facilities, like a playground, pool, lake, exercise room etc. Any info. is appreciated.

Lake Meade is also in Adams Co. and is a large gated community with a pool and a huge lake, several playgrounds and boat launches. It's located between East Berlin and York Springs.

I can't even think of another gated community in the entire York, Adams, Lancaster, Dauphin, Perry, Cumberland County region with a gate. I moved back here about a year ago after a decade living in South Florida and prior to that Austin and Dallas. I am very familiar with gated communities but they are very rare here. Lake Meade has a gate to protect its lake from non-owners.

I don't know anyone that I have met here that ever feels concerned about their personal protection or privacy to warrant a gate. If you want privacy you buy a few wooded acres and build a house at the back edge with a long drive. White Oaks in Lemoyne (Cumberland County) and Stoney Run or The Oaks in Hershey (Dauphin County), which in MHO, have the largest new houses (7,000 to 10,000 SF and over $1 million) have no gates.

Honestly, I had a gate in Austin and I HATED it. I could not walk to a cluster of restaurants and bars in my nearby neighborhood center without taking a 'garage door opener' in my pocket. It was absurd because I was living in Far West in Austin which is affluent, very safe, and the weather is like Southern CA.

Up in the NEPA forums a few folks complain about a couple of gated communities that have turned into foreclosure heaven with places rented to riffraff and squatters - and the gate is said to slow response time from the real cops.
