I recently received a job offer to work in Pensacola, FL. I've been scouring the web looking at various apartments and I need a bit of help. Could anyone provide guidance on nicer areas of Pensacola, which are affordable. I'm in the market for a 1/1 or inexpensive 2/1 in a quiet, safe part of town. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If one of your future co-workers could stop off at a convenience store and get you a copy of THE APARTMENT GUIDE which is a paperback book loaded with apartment info as well as guiding you towards the areas of town that would be more acceptable for you, that would be very good.

Even obtaining an apartment guide... where are the quiet and safe parts of Pensacola?

Look at Governors Gate on University Pkwy, or maybe Eaton Square. Both very nice complexes in good locations.

Pensacola is a very mixed bag, so there is no "good side of town". Generally though, NE P'cola is considered good, while west P'cola (aka Brownsville) is considered bad.

Thanks for the info. I was looking into the NE side of town at I was told it's generally a nicer area. Both of those complexes are on my list to visit.

Governors Gate and Eaton Square are great choices, I've known people who lived in both places and they loved it.

I would stay away from the West side of town if renting an apartment. The further east of town the better. Most apartment complexes in this town are in the ghettos or high crime areas.

So, what about hotels? I'll be flying into Pensacola but have no idea where to stay.

I'll also be looking for a place to live but want on the bay or preferably, the beach. I'm a bit like "Naturalcornellian" above..............have no idea which way to roll. I really want as close to a beach as possible. Unfurnished 1/1 or more; here's the zinger......around $800.00 a month. Any ideas or information will be greatly appreciated.
