Default Is Pensacola a gay-friendly city?

I'm planning on possibly moving to Pensacola, FL from Jacksonville, FL. I'd like to know if people here think Pensacola is a gay-friendly city. Does it have a gay neighborhood?

That's a pretty idiotic blanket statement.

There are gays in Pensacola but definitely not a gay neighborhood. The area is for the most part right-wing conservative. Once a year, on Memorial Day weekend, a very large number of gay tourists visit Pensacola Beach. Oh, the horror.

When this first happened, you would have thought the world was coming to an end. Preachers and other ignorant people would stand on the side of the road with signs telling the gay tourists they were all going to Hell. Residents boycotted the beach so they and their children wouldn't be subjected to the sinful activities taking place.

After a few years of this, the area finally realized how much money these awful people were bringing to the area and things are much quieter now with just a few of the usual protesters.

Pensacola is far from being an open-minded community, which is really unfortunate, but I know there are gays living there who have found a niche. They just have to ignore the ignorance and bigotry, which unfortunately, seems to mainly come from people claiming to be good Christians.

What straight rights? What gay rights? Seriously, just live and let live and you'll be much happier. Of course, I'm pretty sure you're just trolling anyway, but it would be nice if people could just live and let live. I'll keep dreaming.

Pensacola is a conservative military town much like Jacksonville. It nearly is Alabama which is not a bastion of tolerance! If you want gay friendly cities try Orlando, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami and Key West.

You'd get a better response via GLBT website in Pensacola than you will here, but you already know that, don't you!

What is that supposed to mean???

To answer the OP's original question, I would not move to Pensacola, or even think of vacationing there for that matter, and I'm not gay.

You're better off sticking with South Florida.
