Hi,

Just wondering how the economy is doing there, has the area completely bounced back yet? I am traveling down in a couple of weeks, and staying at harborwalk village. Is this a busy area? Would this be a good place to work in the restaurant industry? I have never been but this seems like the place to go in Destin, is that accurate? Any local info would be great,

Thank you

I would say it's very busy right now in the peak season. I think after the oil spill, the area gained some notoriety and became more popular. It seems to be busier now than the the past several years combined. Although I am thankful for this, the commute home to Destin is pretty bad. If you stay in that general area for work, it shouldn't be as bad.

There are several restaurants in Harborwalk Village that do very well, some even do good in the off season like Harry T's.

Looking forward to October when all the tourists are gone...ha!!

How was your trip? I was on the Harborwalk July 12th. It was pretty busy. We did the Dolphin Cruise and looked like a full boat. I got a little woozy but they have the liquid you put behind your ears and I was better in 20 minutes. I stayed in FWB and the restaurants were not as busy as I expected but they still had a good flow. I noticed that traffic is not my favorite thing in Florida but we only left the hotel property twice in our vehicle. The rest of the time we took advantage of the hotel amneties and restaurants next to hotel and pier. Our hotel had a nice gift shop on the property where we could get a snack for pretty cheap.

How did things turn out for you? What (if anything) would you do differently next time?
