Hello! We want to leave miserable PA and live on the gulf. Trying to decide on best place to finish raising family. We have four boys ages 8, 12, 15 and 17. So we need a really safe environment for them. We are looking for a small town with lots of places to walk, ride bikes and lots of outdoor/ nature activities. We want to be near beach or at least within 15 or 30 min from beach. We are also looking for a place where it isn't to hard to obtain employment. I know some areas in florida struggle with that. We will be renting before purchasing. Need someplace where housing is affordable as well.
Any suggestions?

Niceville, FL - some of the best public schools in the state - close to amazing beaches

the employment part is the concern - if you are in medical, no problems - manufacturing (or perhaps anything else), forget it

look at the Tampa metro?

2nd Niceville. Great schools, small town feel. Close to beaches, but also other water activities away from tourists.

Lots of defense related companies. And service industry/hospitality/hotel jobs.
