I'm looking into areas for prospective relocation; Gulf Breeze being on the short list.
I specifically want to ask if Bay Street in Gulf Breeze is a good area ... It's fairly close to the bay so I'm assuming evacuation would be necessary in the event of a hurricane.
Im looking at a 2000+ sf house; to get an idea of how expensive is h/o & flood insurance; I will appreciate feedback.
Hopefully, utilities are reasonable and since I'm senior, good medical care available reasonably nearby.
Any info will be appreciated.

Bay Street in Gulf Breeze was almost completely wiped out in Hurricane Ivan. Homes were literally washed away off their foundations. Make sure whatever home you are looking at is on pilings. Also, make sure someone is even willing to insure you. Medical care is very good in the area. Gulf Breeze Hospital (affiliated with Baptist) is top notch.

Thank you. Important to know.
I had spoken with a realtor and this wasn't mentioned.
Thanks again.

Not surprised. Make sure you ask about flooding with every property you look at. The realtor should ask the owner, who must disclose the information. Are you looking at the town homes on Bay Street? Those were heavily damaged in Ivan as well. You will want to ask if they were re-built to current codes. The code will require that a building be rebuilt (if it was more than 50% damaged) to current codes which require pilings of a certain height.
