Hi!,
I'll be graduating nursing school in july and my fiance works offshore from Mississippi so we're thinking about moving from middle Mississippi to Pensacola. It should be a fairly transition since quite a few hospitals there and my fiance can keep his same job but i'm so lost as to what neighborhood to live in. We'll have enough income for a decent place. We want to just rent a house first, then look into buying if we like living there. I do like historic areas. I've read that East Pensacola Heights is kind of an eclectic/bohemian neighborhood which does get my interest. We were also considering Gulf Breeze but didn't know how bad it flooded during a storm. We also know someone that recommended Milton. I want a place in short distance to some night life. Thanks for ANY advice.

Gulf Breeze is nice because it's close to the beach, but parts of it definitely got hit hard by hurricanes. It's also very family oriented, which of course isn't a bad thing but might not be what you're looking for now.

Forget Milton.

I would recommend checking out the East Hill neighborhood. The closer to Bayou Texar the better. Also, you might check out the historic Seville neighborhood downtown. These areas will get you close to nightlife as well. Definitely check with a realtor who knows the area and have them show you around. I would Google something like "historic pensacola neighborhoods" and see what pops up.
