Is it open? I know it was closed after Ivan, but that's been a while. I just haven't seen any reports stating that it was open again. I'm headed to Destin in a couple of weeks and might take a different route to see a bit more of the P'cola area - and thought a drive along there would be a nice way to arrive...

It's been open since spring, and they also got the road out to Fort Pickens open again a couple weeks back. Updates are here:

I think the Pensacola Beach-Navarre Beach road is the best scenic drive on the northern Gulf Coast.

Another scenic route is US 98/319 from Apalachicola to around Carabelle.

Glad they finally opened up CR399 between Pensacola and Navarre. In fact, I'm getting married on the beach in the Gulf Islands National Seashore in Nov., and the reception will be at a beach house in Navarre.
