Default I'm tired of navarre, is there anything to do here?

Well I'm back to living in Florida, I tried to move to Chicago and couldn't afford it so ended up living in Michigan City, Indiana for a while and I have to say that the area wasn't much different from here with a few exceptions, same beach resort town except lake michigan which is no where near as stunning, old crumbling homes, factories galore and absolutely nothing to do if your young.

I ended up coming back to Florida with my parents who are renting a place on Navarre beach (gulf side) and have a home on the bay side.

A lot of people tell me they would kill to live here and the beach is nice but there is really nothing to do here. At most, I go to walmart, the waffle house and maybe the scenic route time to time to occasionally meet friends who are always busy. The only thing close by is gulf breeze or fort walton and that's still quite a drive. I don't understand why we don't even have a bowling alley or a mall here.

When I was in Chicago, there was so much to do, I realize it's not fair to compare the 2 but every day there was somewhere new to eat, someone to meet, clubs, museums, the mall (they are huge there), etc.

Is there anything to do in this area?

Helen back pizza is awesome, right across from the Navarre Beach bridge.

Other than that, I really don't think there is. A few bars here and there, but no real big shopping areas like up north, and I haven't seen a Museum in that area yet.

FWB really isn't that much of a drive, about 20 miles. You can go to the Island, check out the swamp, club overboard, and a few other places like that. The malls in this area aren't big like up north, because the weather is better. You can go to Destin Commons, and buy as much high priced stuff as you'd like.

My suggestion, buy a boat. That seems to be where everything happens around here in the summer. Crab Island is a happening place all summer long on the weekends. Lots of boats, lots of people, lots of entertainment.

Basically no one lived out there before about 1990 and then people got lured out along 98 by the promise of pleasant and affordable middle class housing and a school district that was appreciably better than Escambia/Pensacola. Some people love it, but I think I've politely described it as 'urban sprawl hell' a few times here, and only now is the commercial development starting to catch up with the residential.

I know it's a drive, but downtown Pensacola really is your best bet. They've got what passes for urban life and nightlife in these parts- McGuire's, Seville Quarter, the Fish House/Atlas, a couple of mid-sized museums and the Civic Center for bush league hockey and the occasional decent concert. If it ever gets built, the Maritime Park project will also nicely increase the entertainment options over there.

The Navarre area is primarily a tourist and retirement attraction . However, in the Spring around April theres an outdoor Festival on the beach which includes alot of vendors and live entertainment ...then every Thursday night from Spring thru Fall there is an outdoor Music Concert with rock bands (mostly) close to the bridge on Route 98 in a Park . Other than that, you can walk or run on the beach year round / collect seashells / sunbathe / bicycle ride , etc... The area down here might be kind of limited for a Teenager as far as things to do goes...but theres advantages too. I moved here from the Chicago area and its far better here for me.

I moved from Fort Walton Beach and am in my early 20's. I've lived here for about 8 years (moved here from Chicago) and Fort Walton there wasn't much but there was still things to do. Parents wanted to move out to Navarre and things weren't working out when I moved back to Chicago or Indiana so I ended up coming back here. Finding a job is difficult and the only thing I've really been able to do is go to Pensacola a few times to the mall there, or some of the local restaurants. Around my area, I go to the scenic route sometimes along gulf breeze though I have the beach in my backyard but there's only so much to do. I suppose I could go to okaloosa island and try to meet people at the swamp or something though i've never really been to any of those places.

Have you considered finding a large Church that has an active College Age Singles Group so you can meet new people, do interesting activities , visit places, and grow in your relationship with God ? We have a very good one in Niceville but im sure theres some good ones closer to you . I would check your Yellow Page Directory under Churches , ask around, or look on thier websites.

Church at McGuires on Tuesday night in Destin.

They have cooly cups that say "Our church has a better beer selection than your bar"

I love that place.

Drugs make you stupid
Alchohol makes you silly
Jesus makes you right with God forever. Forever is longer than Tuesday nights at McGuires until it fades away.

I never read in the bible where it said, "Though shall not drink beer at church"

But, whatever.
