Hi my name is Hayley and I'm trying to find my dad Simon Stewart Sweet 50 yrs old. I live in the UK, my dad went to work in the Netherlands in 1999, we lost contact in 2004 and no one has seen or heard from him since, he could be anywhere, I just want to know he is safe and well.

In the Dutch phonebook De Telefoongids Bedrijvengids, telefoonboek, telefoonnummers en adressen I found:

S.S. Sweet
Uilenstede 380
1183DC Amstelveen
  • 020-4533117 (+31 20 4533117)
Perhaps it's him.
Ria, from the Netherlands.

Hi Harley,

I saw on the internet that you tried a lot already.

Did you try the Dutch missing persons tv- and radioprograms also?

Tv:

Voorpagina | TROS Vermist

KRO-Spoorloos - Homepage

Radio:

KRO-Adres Onbekend -

or perhaps the Red Cross:

Hulplijn Vermiste Personen - Home

This are Dutch startpages for missing persons:

vermist.startpagina.nl

VERMISTE PERSONEN ZOEKEN E/O UIT HET OOG VERLOREN -- Personenzoeken.jouwpagina.nl

Succes with your search,
Ria

Hi Hayley,

(Excuse me for my English.)

If you have a last known adress of your father, you can write to the administration of that city (English is no problem for most Dutch people and the adresses are all to find on the internet by the name of the place). They have a registration of all people who move within the place or to another place. If he still lives in the same city, they can give you his newest adress, or when he moved to another city, they at least know where he went, so you can write to the next city, untill you get his last known adress. Of course you have to send a piece of proof that you are his son.

If you want to be sure if he didn't die, we have the "Centraal Bureau voor Genealogie". From all the administrations of Dutch cities, they get the information about people who died at least two years before in the Netherlands. Of course I hope for you that's not the case.

This is their website:

Centraal Bureau voor Genealogie - Centrum voor Familiegeschiedenis

This is their informationpage in English:

Centraal Bureau voor Genealogie - Centrum voor Familiegeschiedenis

It will cost you I think about 10 euro, to order the personslist. If there is none, they let you know also.

One positive point: I couldn't find him on websites I know about deceased people.

Ria

Hi Ria, thankyou once again for the information you have given me you are a star, I sent a letter to verstekkingen about 3 weeks ago with a copy of my birth certificate and a letter to forward to my dad if they have an address for him unfortunately I do not have an address for him as he worked for an employment agency called Rayforce (I do not know if the spelling is correct)and cannot find it on the internet and he moved around quite a lot, I do know he lived in the westerpark area for a while, he was also not very well and was taking medication so he would have registered with a doctor.I am very grateful for your help. Hayley

Did you try Expatica? A lot of Brits in NL hanging out there. The circles are very small.

What kind of work does he do?

Is it possibly G-Force? The way it's pronounced could make it sound like RayForce I guess.
