The family of a Gloucester man who disappeared last month are desperate to find him before it is too late.

Joe Odum, 37, was last seen at Latitude 43 bar in Gloucester in the early hours of Nov. 14. He made a cell phone call around 2:30 a.m. and hasn’t been heard from since, according to Terry Weber, and advocate for Families of the Missing who is assisting Odum’s three sisters in the search.

Odum, a carpenter and father of a 2-year-old daughter, is considered endangered because he has stopped taking medications for depression and other conditions, Weber said.

Gloucester police are following up on several reported sightings that place Odum as far away as Florida, but they are also looking at the possibility that the man may not be found alive.

“The longer this goes, the more likely it is to have a negative outcome,” said Chief Michael Lane.

Odum is described as a white man with curly brown hair and a heart tattoo on his left arm. He is 5-feet, 7-inches tall, weighs 175 pounds and was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt under a black leather coat, a gray knit hat, light blue jeans and new work boots. He does not own a car.

Odum’s sisters meet regularly with Gloucester police and have planned a search of Stage Fort in Gloucester for 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

“These three sisters are very committed to finding their brother, and this is a very crucial time,” Weber said.
