My great aunt, Pru, was a Brit who emigrated to the U.S. in her twenties. She spent most of her life in the states, with an occasional trip back to England to visit family. She never married, although she did have a gentleman friend until he passed away. (He was married to an invalid wife and divorce was out of the question).
When she was in her mid-70's, she received correspondence from her first beau back in England. She was 16, he was 14 and a hired hand on her father's farm. Daddy broke up the romance by promising my aunt a trip to the states.
Long story short, he was a widower, living on his ranch on North Island and a short correspondence later, they agreed the time had come to marry. She met him somewhere in Vancouver Canada, they married and sailed to N.Z. where they lived happily ever after until she passed away somewhere in her 90's after having a horrific reaction to penicillin.
His name was John Edgecomb. (Edgcomb?)
They married sometime in the 50's and she passed sometime in the 1970's.
Any chance anyone here is related to John?
Yes, I know it's a long shot, but life is made up of beating the odds, isn't it? Thanks.
