I am searching for some historical information on my family, that of Jefferson Clem Marteny of Randolph County. Jefferson was my great-great grandfather.
I know that I still have family back in that area, namely the Armentrouts of Beverly, but that's about all I know. I am especially interesed in information on Jefferson's brothers and sisters and their familes, as well as Jefferson's parents and their lineage.
Any verifiable information would be greatly appreciated!
HI!
My name is Linda Marteny James. I live in Florida now, but I was born in Grafton, WV. No. 8 of 11 children of Neil and Venola Shahan Marteny. My Dad was the son of Charles and Nellie Powell Marteny. Charles was the son of Jefferson Clem Marteny. Therefore Jefferson is also my great-grandfather. Sadly, my Dad passed away in 1994, he was a wonderful person and the greatest Dad in the world. My Mother (yes the greatest Mom in the world) still lives in WV. She is 87 now so we will not have her much longer. My Dad was born in Beverly, a small small town near Elkins in Randolph County in 1916One of my 1st cousins is working on the Marteny genealogy. She is the daughter of one of my Dad's sisters. She is also here in Florida. It is always nice to find family that you didn't know about and I would enjoy coesponding with you (COUS)
Happy Holidays to you and your family
Linda Marteny James
Hi there,
my name is Suzette Marteny and I live in Florida. I understand that some of my family is from West Virginia, and I am just wondering about the geneaology. My grandfather's name was William Wesley Marteny, and he has some connection to both WV and Arizona. I know he got his Ph.D. from U of Arizona, but I don't know anything about his parents. I do know that he had a sister in AZ named Elizabeth.
Any info you all might have would be welcomed.
Take care,
~Suzi
