I don't know the woman, but FYI; The emblem he has on his right sleeve is the Meritorious Unit Emblem which was worn by men in a unit which had received the Meritorious Unit Commendation, and not always from combat service. A unit which receives this Commendation has performed service which would result in an individual to receive the Legion of Merit decoration. Oh, and it was awarded after 1 January 1944. This is no help in your quest, but the time-line may help.

You see this is exactly why I tell my family to date your pics and put the name of the people in the picture on it . I hope you find her I do but most likely like the other posters said she is most likely dead .

If you have his discharge papers, you should have the company, unit, battalion, etc that he was in. That's a good start. There are lots of organizations out there who still hold reunions for units and what not and while the greatest generation is passing on, their children and grand children are still participating in these reunions. You will have to do a good bit of detective work, but you may be able to find a few of his buddies or their descendants via the VFW, a little google work and some phone calls. Best wishes.

My dad's papers were lost in that 1973 fire as well.

Deb; glad to see you used Picasa. Go back & start tagging the photos with any information that you know so it comes up in search engines. You can also tag your grandpa's face with his name so that anyone looking for him; it will pull the photo up.

Good luck; neat pictures!

Default Cam Rutherford

Thanks everyone. I was merely hoping that someone would recognize their father in some of these pictures, maybe give me an idea of a location or date. I appreciate all your help.

I wish I could help you but my parents are younger; I have no history in the US

Take the info from the other post you have & add it to the albums.

I did a quick google of Falmouth Camp Edwards in 1945 & got this forum
