Parts of my family immigrated in the 19th century to NY but mostly to Illinois. Does anyone know a person with the name BEHRNING ? There should be the one or other because they left in a great number Burgsteinfurt Germany between 1830 amd 1860. My research via White Pages where without any results. I would be grateful to get any help and response.
Most of the places for people or public information search , they will need a first name and sometimes even more info , like phone numbers or SS#. But you can try this website for yourself and see what you can come up with. Its a free site to some extent , mostly the basic info of someone's whereabout. Try it , " People Search by ZabaSearch - Honestly Free People Search.
Good luck.
Annbg, are you certain of the spelling? There are only 6 records, total, for Behrning in all of ancestry.com, and nothing in current addresses ... but thousands of records for Behring. If you're certain it was Behrning, then I suggest it may have been changed to Berning. Or, they only had girls and the name was lost through marriage.
Records:
1. Anna Behrning, born abt 1848, arrived 1868 from Bremen, Germany - NY Passenger Lists
2, John H Behrning, bought 80 acres in Bartholomew Co. Indiana, 1843 - US General Land Office Record
3-4. Edward F (1900) and Frederick H P Behrning (1902), stepsons of Alphons Glock (mother Barbara Glock) lived in Minden, NV -1920 Census
5. Benhart Behrning born, 31 Dec 1891, lived at 2308 Belmont, Chicago, Illinois. Occupation- Teamster. Natural born citizen with wife and 1 child -WWI Draft Registration
6. Dorothy Marie Gallaher born 15 Feb 1895 in Missouri, died 18 Mar 1957 in San Bernardino, CA. Mother's maiden name listed as Emma Behrning, father's surname listed as Brydges. -California Death Index
Hello hcgCali,
thank you for helping me and finding a lot of names and relatives. I have to think it over what you mentioned about possible misspelling and loss of the name by marriages. Then I'll send you a private message with some special questions.
