You might try to contact the school to see if you can get any information. It appears that the alumni list is not open to search via the internet however.

I would tell them that he was a friend of yours that you lost contact with and that YOU did not attend the school...

I had to do a search for my own birth Mother so I have an idea of what your going through...Don't be affraid to talk to people, be apologetic for bothering them but don't say the real reason you are looking for this person, his family or his wife might not know of your existance OR they might and try to hide from you where he is...its hard to say what goes through peoples minds...
