Yes. ( Of course that could be fake, too)
3 stripes (chevrons) = sergeant (E-5)
Buck sergeant is a slang term for an E-5, the lowest level of sergeant.

Nope, no pics seen.

The imposter might have been 1% more believable, had he known to put the guy's last name on his uniform, and not the first name. So, the imposter is one of the dumb crooks.

I was hired by a lady in Massachusetts to locate someone locally who scammed her using Western Union Money Grams. They met on the internet and supposedly the local person had something for sale. Wrong.
Never use Western Union or Paypal, etc. unless you know who is on the other end.

good post. You must have been "toying" with him after you became suspicious.... It was interesting, I'll bet, to see his responses.

I have a client, smart woman, 50 years old, who met a guy on match.com and ended up sending him money.....the bank came after her. I could not believe she was so gullible but, it happens. I suspect she was just lonely and wanted to believe. I guess I am too cynical.

This guy wanted me to send money by Moneygram to pay for a secure line. The total was $950 and it was to be sent to a Shana Pence in Cornersville, TN. I wanted to tell the guy that the money was sent and waiting to be picked up. I live in Alabama and it wasnt that far of a drive to just to see who would be picking up my money. That was my plan; however, didnt turn out that way. The first plea for money was to be sent to Turkey...

Yes mam, I had figured out pretty early in our small journey that he had to be fake. One clue was he sent me some pictures that I asked him to take of himself. He told me he would take them and that he would send them as soon as he got finished. Afganastan is 9 1/2 hrs ahead of Alabama in time. He sent me the pictures around 1pm and it was still daylight in his pictures. It should have been around 10:30pm his time. I didnt call him out on it at that time. So yes, it was interesting just to see what he would come up with next. I have to give him an +A for hanging in there trying desperately to get my money.

Those things on his sleeves are the American Flag and his unit patches. The chevrons on his chest is E-5 "buck sergeant". This has been an interesting post and follow-ups. I'm happy you bailed.
