Hi,

I'm trying to locate where their farm used to be. The info I have simply reads "several miles north of somerset on what once was once the Forbes Military Road was situated the John Ferner homestead. It was 42x36 and was taken down or moved in 1906. His father John's grave marker is nearby and only says April 1819 aged 74 years" without a name.

If any of you locally in Somerset have an idea where this would be I would so appreciate it!

You may be on your trip already, But here is a post card with a Ferner Hotel in Somerset.
Maybe the owner of the hotel, and the owner of that homestead, are related.

There is a Somerset Historical Society.
You could visit them, and they may be able to give you historical information, on the Ferner family, who could have been well known in the community.

Good luck.

Thank you both, I was in Somerset the week after Labor Day and I went to the Historic Society and Recorder of Deeds and I did find some new information but not enough to pin point the old farm and grave. I fell in love with the area so I'll be back. Thanks Again!
