Ok I haven't given up. I was born in Atlanta in 1972. My mother's name is Christine Gillespie, my father, Jerome. I confronted my mother (gently) about having no information regarding my father and this is what I learned. She is not sure of his last name, perhaps Sturdivant or some variation of that. Sullivan is on my birth certificate, but she knows that is not correct. Please don’t judge. He was a cop, I believe for Fulton County, Georgia, but may have been let go because of some involvement with drugs. His father held an esteemed position with the County jail, so I'm guessing the Sheriff's department maybe or the Dept of Corrections? Some cops that my father may have befriended were named Officer Holloway (sp) and Officer Calvin Scott. My father's mother lived in the Carver homes subdivision of Atlanta which I think has long ago been torn down. I have a half-sister but could have more siblings.

So there you have it. ALL I know about my father - we all now know. lol. I have taken someone's suggestion and looked at every yearbook that classmates.com has on file for the ATL area graduating class circa 1963, but have found no Jeromes. I thought about maybe sending a FOIA request to the APD but I know personnel info is an exemption...so any help/suggestion anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. I understand that some may follow some rule of not looking for cops but quite honestly, I would be happy with just a picture at this point or a connection to other "family".
Thank you for reading and considering my plight.

As stated above, you are on your own. It was suggested to leave your information with the PD in Atlanta with a request to forward it on.

Try looking for your Grandfather as step one, or for someone who knew him back then, in that county.

Law enforcement has a Fraternal Order of Police, in most cities, and one of their members, may very well know your Grandfather.
