I am trying to find any information on my great grandfather on behalf of my grandmother. His names was Claiborn Lee Corbitt (sometimes spelled Corbett). He was born in Texas in 1895 or 7, and moved to OK as a child. He shows up in the 1910 Census with his mother Marguerite Clarrah (scott) Corbitt and his brother Selman. His draft record of 1917 shows him as a butcher for the Durant Meat MArket in Durant, Bryant, OK.
By the 1920s, he was in Midlothian,Ellis, Texas. He married and had three children. His son, C L Corbett, Jr, as since passed. He married Gladys Edna Brown. She died in the 1930s and the kids were raised by their maternal grandparents.
I cannot find C.L. COrbitt on any census for 1920 or 30. I can find no death record. FAmily rumors are that he had another family up in Oklahoma, which he did have his mother and siblings there. He also had a brother named Dr. Jim COrbitt of Dallas, TX and another called "Dock". I sometimes wonder if CL was "Dock". WHERE DID HE GO? WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM???
Any help will be much appreciated! If you need more information, please ask!
Scroll down to Corbett and it shows a C L Corbett Jr and a Patsy Ruth Corbett both with the date of birth of 2/24/1927. It lists the parents as Gladys Edna Brown and C L Corbett.
