Hi, my name is Brie. My fiancé is 25 years old and has never met his father. His mothers name is Judy Miller and she never told this man that she became pregnant with his child. I have been trying to help him locate his dad but we have come up with absolutely nothing. All we know about him is that his name is Matthew Wingerd (not 100% on the spelling), he used to live in Old Saybrook CT and Old Lyme CT, he worked at a place called Diving Services in Old Saybrook about 25 years ago, he should be around 45 years old and may have a daughter around the age of 28. He might have moved to California at some point but we really have no idea. I feel like this whole process is a dead end but I refuse to give up. I am posting this because I am desperate at this point and don't know what else to do. It would literally mean the world to him if we could find this man.. it would bring him so much closure and I am willing to do anything to give him that. Any kind of help or information is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you all so much!

You seriously need to re-think this. Obviously his father does not want to be found or he is not alive, otherwise he would be looking for his son. If the horrible truth isn't already in the face of the man you love, do you really want to be the one to put it there?

What she needs is the correct spelling of his last name to find him.

Try going to the city library where the Father once lived/worked and look in old phone directories and Polk directories from 25 years ago for his name or a similar spelling of his last name, You most likely will have a middle initial in the listing which is helpful when narrowing the possible fathers as every name has multiple choices and ages of the same name, You may even find a name of a spouse listed, The polks list the occupation so you can match the name with his said occupation. If your fiancé's father was a diver, check scuba forums and clubs. Diving is a hobby which can be continued well past middle age in many cases.

Brie, I originally had a look under "Matthew Wingerd" but when I changed it to "Matthew Wingard", I found this person:

If you look at his complete list of old phones and addresses (you will need to click "view more") you will see he has lived in Old Saybrook in the past. He is also close in age to the person you are looking for.
