Many good genealogy helpers go back and forth between this forum and the genealogy forum.
You can try here and give it some time, and then consider posting on the genealogy forum.

There is a public tree on Ancestry which has a profile for an Adam Wiegand who died in Buffalo New York, date unknown, wife unknown: Ancestry.com

Adam is shown having a son, George Adam Wiegand, born 1874 in Pennsylvania. The son was living in Rochester New York in 1900 and was living in Pittsburgh in 1910. Information about the son's wife is also given. They had a son and two daughters. The information on the children is marked private.

There are another Adam Wiegand on Ancestry as well. This Adam Edward Wiegand has zero personal info listed but he married a Ruth Ferguson. Ruth was born in New York about 1902. Ancestry.com . They had a son, Kennith Wiegand, born in 1926. Kenneth married and had one daughter, name unknown.

The above two links I posted lead to the profiles but are only viewable with an Ancestry paid subscription.

WOW!!!!!!!
adam edward was my father's father--ruth was my nana--i look just like her.
thankyou so much!
interesting to see they actually were married, as my father was raised by his maternal grandmother--adam and ruthie never lived together as far as i know.
there were a couple of possible reasons, one could be the german last name, another could be the possibility of jewish blood
was offputting to her mother (who sounded like a horrible person to raise my poor dad)--don't recall ever hearing about ruthie's father.
i was told adam edward had another family elsewhere, and my dad was 'funny' about the wiegands in southold, i've always wondered why.
i assume all who may know the story are gone.
i would love to meet those people if they're out there.
my dad was kenneth,he had five kids all told.
thankyou!

i

Ancestry does not allow public profiles of living persons. So, if the tree owner knows the person is living or could be alive, they will create a private profile. They can see the private profile and they can select which members (from a list of those they've they've invited to their tree) can see the private profiles as well.

Membership at Ancestry is free. However, to view records or public trees, one must have a paid or trial subscription. The exception is where a member has accepted a invitation by a tree owner to view their tree. Thereafter, that particular tree can be viewed without a paid subscription.

I assume you have a free trial two-week subscription? If so, be sure to cancel before the two weeks are up or the the subscription will automatically be renewed and your credit card charged.

While you have the subscription, try contacting the tree owner here:
gldstrz Public Profile - Ancestry.com
(orange button on the right).

Be sure to do this BEFORE your subscription expires, provide your email address and ask the tree owner to reply via email. You cannot initiate contact through Ancestry with another Ancestry member unless you are a subscriber.

The tree is very bare bones and I suspect the tree owner has no idea if the couple were married or not. Note that there is no marriage date listed in their profiles.

As far as whether the couple may have lived together, click on the the source citation besides the Residence information for 1920, 1925 and 1930 in Ruth's profile and look at the actual census images to see if the couple were living together on each of those census dates and whether they state they are married. That's no proof of marriage though as people do lie.

Unfortunately, I can't see any of those U.S. census records. I have a one-month subscription on the Canadian site, expiring on Tuesday. This allows me to see all public trees but only allows me access to Canadian records.

I suggest you start a new thread on the Genealogy forum ( http://www.city-data.com/forum/genealogy/ ) or have this thread moved there. Someone who focuses on U.S. based research or who has a U.S. Ancestry paid subscription may be able to help you further. I am unclear though exactly what specific information you're looking for.

In 1930 Ruth Wiegand and Kenneth are listed living with her parents. She was born 1902 NY and is listed as married.

Both her parents - Henry Ferguson b.1858 & Helen b.1872 were listed as born "Irish Free State". Her brother Frank was born in NY 1905.
