I'm not sure if this is the right board for this, but I'm looking for suggestions on how to help my friend track down her father in Panama. He has been missing for a couple of weeks (he lives there part of the year) and was last heard from when he was heading to the Bocas del Toro islands. He was supposedly going with other people (who I believe remain unidentified). He's in his late 60s, and hasn't done this kind of thing before.

I told my friend I'd start posting his info on the Internet, but I'm wondering if you guys have any sites you can suggest. I figured I'd go on tourism sites, sailing sites, ex-pat sites, etc. Any other ideas or actual links?

Thanks!

Have the police there been notified, was he driving, I wonder what the distance was. There's an older teen boy, August Reiger from OK, who was hiking w/ his family in Ecuador but they separated (took diff. trails) and he's been missing for weeks, he was valedictorian of his HS grad. class (which is why the family took the trip, as a gift), the jungle was searched w/ no sign of him and now they think he may have been kidnapped (alth. supposedly it's a safe area), no ransom demands and no obvious reason (the fam. isnt rich) but supp. he was sighted in the back of a pick-up truck after he went missing. It's a shame, I hope your friend's father is OK (what's his name)?, good luck to them both.

Thanks, SXMGirl - I've got the site up in front of me now.

Honeycrisp, the police and the embassy have been notified. And yes, I've been thinking about August Reiger through this!

My friend's father's name is Robert "Bob" Ehlert, and he's about 69 years old, though he often gives a younger age. 5'9'', 180 lbs, with green eyes and gray/light brown hair. Vehicle: Tan Lexus, Minnesota plates NKL 527

Looks like he's been on the site below before. It says he's 62 but like you said he often gives a younger age. I'll send you a DM with his correct DOB.
