ArtyGuy - do you think the Chaplain's office would be willing to assist us ?- the child is mixed race, but was not orphaned, just removed by the father to the U.S.

Thanks, C

"we have tried many of those resources already and we are still running into dead ends."

If a dead end resembles a stop sign, go around it.

Hi, my family and I are in the same situation as Caroline65, was wondering if you could help us as well with your contact in Korea.

We're trying to locate our sister, born to our father who was in the army in 1967. She was born on Ganghwado Island.

Thank you!

I am aware of a contact in Korea. Does your husband or other relative speak Korean which might make the transition easier?

Due to the language difference and lack of info - and the fact that there are so few surnames in Korea, we have had a lot of trouble trying to find her. A misdirected letter arrived som years ago and it was recently discover - which has led us to believe she wants to be found. There is no return address, just some words in Korean which we have been struggling to get translated properly.

We have a copy of the birth certificate.

Does anyone know if it would be possible to get information or records from the military or US Govt?

Obviously, we think there may be privacy issues here, but we are trying all avenues.

Thank you, Carolina

PS - Google and similar internet searches have not been helpful.

Here is a link that might help someone looking for relatives in Korea.

White Pages South Korea by Phone Book of the South Korea.com - Whitepages South Korea

Alternatively this statistic: In 2012 approximately 8 million Koreans were on Facebook.
Nowadays more Koreans are on the internet because they are curious about it due to their lack of access to it in previous years. Try Facebook.
