I'm trying to locate the final resting place of Mr. John G. Kneiling (B. 1-18-1920, D 1-22-2000) Mr. Kneiling was an industrial engineer with a strong interest in the rail industry. In the mid-1960's he conceived and advocated the concept of the "integral" or "true" train -- dedicated only to one shipper and customer and, with the help of a rail hobbyist publicatiion, continued a monthly column which drew a dedicated following and a substantial amount of controversy.

Events over the following fifty years have not turned out quite as predicted, but close enough that Mr. Kneiling has since developed a growing respect among engineers and transportation professionals at least as much as among devotes of the iron horse.

Remembering the "Professional Iconoclast" - General Discussion - Trains Magazine - Trains.com online community

Mr. Kneiling spent most of his life in and around New York and it appears that his last years might hae been spent on Staten Island. Any help in locating his burial place for memorialization via findagrave.com would be appreciated.

If you go to the Railroad.net site where you posted a comment, above yours for Wed Jan 14, 2009 you see a member who says John G. Kneiling was their Father.
Maybe send that member a message through that site. Good luck.
