Hi I'm also on a search... Mine has dead-ended (for now)... But I've been looking for this specific person for over a year.

I have found other family members though.

I can tell you what I've done

1- Nothing beneficial has been free for me, but I have very little info
2- At 45, social media is a definite possibilty do you have a name? Even a common name & city of origin can pan out - there may be a little FB stalking required - checking into multiplie people until you find the right one, sending a few private messages, etc.
3- Ancestry has been a good resource for me (but not for a person who's name, DOB, mother's name I don't have) - if you have any info, it's worth the spend. I thought I'd plunk out the $19 for 1 month, and here I am 3 years later with a full subscription. Won't give it up - new records are constantly emerging. TONs of birth certs have been published recently.
4- a member of this forum told me to try a DNA test through ancestry. I haven't done it yet, but I plan to this week.
